Before I started putting filters over the music video I looked at some existing videos within the same genre to see what kind of effects are conventional for our genre. These are some of the videos that I found. I thought that these were good examples to give me inspiration as the kind of filters are consistent across all of the videos and these are the kind of filters that I had in mind to go over my own music video.

Filming the Narrative 19/11/11
Today we went to Eynsford Castle where I filmed some of the narrative footage. We got all of the shots we needed and are pleased with how it looks so far. The scenes we shot were the beginning of our narrative and the arguement scenes.

Location Back Up Plan
As we may not be able to film our performance at our original location we have had to find another location for the performance side of our music video. We have contacted The Mick Jagger Centre in Dartford and are currently waiting to hear back from them.

Website Analysis
I decided to analyse Katy Perry's website because I thought it was a good example of the things that need to be included on our own website and because the advertising of the music video for her new single were made obvious throughout the whole website.
I chose to analyse You Me At Six's website because the band is in the same genre as our own and the website has a good example of getting the band's image across in the website.
Website Research and Ideas
I decided to do a brainstorm of ideas of what to include on our website and also what I want on what pages. I also thought of some ideas for the image and theme of the website and how I want it to link in with the band's image.

Production Schedule
We decided to plan out a production schedule of when and where we will be filming the narrative scenes so that it will go more smoothly on the day.
Risk Assessment
We have decided to make a risk assessment table stating the risks that we might come across while filming. We have also stated how we will deal with these risks to prevent them from turning into accidents.

Group Meeting 27/10/11
Today me and Sophie met to discuss our marketing strategy. We decided on the music channels that our single would be played on and also the radio stations that would be likely to play it. We tried to think of as many different ways to promote our band and single as possible. We also began thinking of some ideas for the design of our website and how we can make the website link in with the band's image.
As Worlds Collide- Marketing Strategy
We have a range a opportunities to sell our band to our audience. Here are our main ideas for our marketing strategy.
- Our main marketing strategy is our music video. We will advertise our band through our video by showing the video on relevant music channels like Scuzz and Kerrang. Another music channel that we could show our video on is Lava as it is popular for showing unsigned bands.
- A Website for the band featuring pictures of the band, the single and video, video's of rehearsals, merchandise, links to their facebook page that we will set up and dates of gigs.
- We are going to sell t-shirts with 'As Worlds Collide' printed on them and a picture of the band.
- The single will be played on mainstream radio channels such as Kerrang and Radio 1.
- Posters promoting the band and single in shops and adverts on the itunes website.

Camera Techniques and Composition
Throughout this music video the lead singer is lip syncing in different locations and costumes and then all the shots are put together so that it is timed correctly and flows well. To make this work the same shot type has to be used for every lip syncing shot and it must be composed the same. In these shots the singer is always in the centre of the shot and the main focus, this is done using a mid shot. The different shots all put together make the video a lot more interesting to watch rather than if the singer was performing in just one location and in one costume. The shot are cut to the beat of the song and get really fast but still make sense. The amount of locations used could signify him trying to move on as at the beginning we see the narrative of a girl leaving him. This camera technique enhances the music video because it is different and holds the audience' attention.
In this music video the camera never stops moving and the same scene is repeated continuously four times. The only thing that changes is that there is one more of every person each time around. This use of the camera could be enhancing the ideology behind the video, that the artists' world is not like everyone else's. It is an everyday scene but it shows another take on the world; exciting and unpredictable. It would be a boring scene to watch repeatedly but it is made interesting by the camera techniques and camera movement.

3rd Initial Idea - Battle Scars
The third song that we considered was Battle Scars also by As Worlds Collide. After listening to the song many times we came up with our most appropriate idea for this song, and this was a performance and narrative video.
We came up with an idea for the narrative side pretty easily after we fully understood the meaning of the song. Our idea for the narrative involved the story line of a boy meeting a girl by chance, getting to know and like her and then her having to leave suddenly. The boy would then have to go to perform at a gig (which would link in with the performance side of the video), and finally towards the end of the video the girl that he had met would turn up at the gig and the video would end with them two together.
The video would start as a performance and the narrative side of them meeting and spending time together would be set in the past as flashbacks but them meeting again at the end would be the present.
Significant lines in the song that relate to our idea (also that gave us inspiration):
'And I'll wait all night
On a shooting star so that maybe she will come back to me, and if this wish I made will just come true I'm gonna do it every night and she wont ever leave.... Don't ever leave'
'To know you'll never leave my side I'd wait all night, I'd wait all night'
A lot of research would have to be done for this idea, into venues and costs.

Analysis of a conceptual music video
0:04 - The video starts off with a pan of the location - The library
0:12 - Zooms into a close up of a book on the bottom shelf this is significant to the concept of the video as it shows how in everything, you have to start at the very bottom - The fact that it is located on the bottom shelf also relates to the lyrics of the song "I'm just beginning"
0:14 - Close up shot of the front cover of the book which has the singer lip syncing on it - The performance side to the video
0:18 - Shows the book unravelling and coming to life - Singer is still performing on the book
0:31 - The book has 'come to life' and stood up - Also significant to the concept
0:39 - Very low angled shot from the point of view of the book, shows tall book shelves and also the sky - Shows us the targeted destination of the book
0:43 - Cuts back to performance - Shows the singers hair being blown back..
0:44 - Cuts to a shot of the book still on the bottom shelf as somebody walks in front off it - Linking the performance with the concept as it hints that the singers hair being blown back was caused by this person walking by
0:53 - Cuts to a close up of the books 'legs' - Shows the book start to climb up the book shelves
1:04 - Shows the book making its way to the top
1:20 - Another books 'comes to life' and moves to try and make the other book fall - The two books could signify people and the way that people will try to knock you down in life
1:24 - A shot of the book hanging off the book shelf from above - This is done to show how far 'the book' has come to nearly be knocked back to the bottom again
1:28 -The book is made to seem even more human like with an over the shoulder shot of it looking up at the ceiling and sky
1:32 - cuts back to performance - The weather/season has changed - This has been done to show time passing
1:50 - Shows the book finally pulling itself up to the very top of the bookshelf - Relates to the lyrics "reaching for something in the distance, so close you can almost taste it"
1:56 - Over the shoulder shot of the book looking down on the world from very high up - Contrast from beginning of the video - The words "Un Voyage Au Fond" are also in the shot
1:58 - Cuts back to performance - Shows the singer lift an umbrella and the weather change around her to rain - Relates to lyrics "Feel the rain on your skin"
1:59 - Cuts to a shot of the book still with the performance on it - It is now raining around the book aswell as the singer
2:01 - Shows the book continue to climb in the rain
2:03 - Cuts to performance - Still raining, singer throws umbrella away and also her scarf
2:10 - Shows the book still climbing - Shows a flash of lightening aswell as rain
2:21 - Shows the book wrap its 'arms' around itself - This is done to make the book seem more human and show how it has human emotions Singer also does this action simultaneously - Hints that the book and singer are in the same situation - The book is taking the place of the performer
The environment around both the concept and performance also changes simultaneously
2:31 - Close up of a page from a book with writing on it being burnt
2:42 - Cuts to book and performance - Now both in a different season and environment, Again showing time passing
2:55 - The book is continuing to climb through the snow and cold - Doesn't give up - Links to the concept of the song
2:59 - Shows the book climbing, nearly at the top of the cliff - Has writing on the top right side of the screen
3:04 - A shot of the book pulling itself to the top of the cliff
3:10 - Cuts to a shot of a dove
3:11 - Shows the book falling from the cliff top through the sky
3:17 - The book is falling apart as it falls through the sky - Reflects the concept of life and the journeys people make
3:20 - A shot of pages from the book falling through the sky - The sky has changed and is brighter and clearer
3:21 - Part of a page falling onto someones book
3:25 - Over the Shoulder Shot of a woman reading the page and then looking up towards the sky
3:29 - A shot of a man and woman both holding pages from the book - Music fades out
3:38 - Ends with a shot of a woman looking up and then walking away smiling
- Although the book was torn apart the video has been ended in a positive way
